Dear Friends,
As the clock has crossed midnight here in Minnesota, I am going to keep this issue brief. I had big plans for creative writing today while at my daughters’ dance competition. There was a lot of down time between their dances. I packed for success - a fully charged laptop, personal hotspot activated on my phone, noise cancellation airpods, and even a pad of paper and pen to capture ideas. Unfortunately, my creative writing skills were outmatched by the huge crowd of cheering dancers, chatting parents and really loud music. I just couldn’t get into the writing mode. As a result, I was unsuccessful today in writing a creative piece for us.
Frankly, it has been hard to be creative this week. The crisis in Ukraine has been weighing heavily on my mind and my heart. I have watched way too many news programs and Youtube videos. I am sad and worried. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine, the humanitarian efforts in Europe, and everyone working for peace.
Here is Issue #5 of A Twenty Percent Creative.
Please stay healthy and safe this week.
Warmly,
Jeff
News from Stolen Echoes, the photography collective I co-founded in 2020.
We published our third photography assignment, “Multiple Exposures”, a few days ago on our website. This assignment called for us to make photographs in-camera using the double or multiple exposure setting. We all found the assignment to be challenging as none of us had experience making these types of photographs. As the assignment progressed, it was amazing to see the creative approaches and subject matter explored by the group. Here are the 3 photographs I decided to submit for the assignment. Photographs 1 and 2 were taken on Lake Street in January 2022 (see Issue #3). The third photograph was taken on the university campus during a recent snowstorm.

I love the snooze feature in Gmail (it is available in other email clients, too).
I snooze emails every day to take control of my inbox and reach inbox zero.
I snooze emails to the date and time when my next action is needed
I snooze emails to remind me I am waiting for responses from others.
I sleep better at night because of the snooze feature;)
If you haven’t tried the snooze feature, it is definitely worth a look.

DIANE MEYER
I recently learned of Diane Meyer’s unique and creative mixed media pieces. Diane, a Los-Angeles based artist, blends photography with embroidery to create fascinating visual commentaries about memories, historical moments, people, and places from the past. Diane shares her work on Instagram @dianemeyerstudio and via her website. If you are interested in hearing the why behind Diane’s art, she was interviewed on Season 2, Episode 3 of The Weird Show - a podcast about collage and many other things.
